No but it seems the Honaker folks sure did. Was told you would have thought they won state the way they stormed the field. Also they made their big comeback with their 1st teamers in against Clintwoods subs.

It was 20-7 Clintwood going into the 4th quarter. Honaker's first unit scored 22 in the fourth against Clintwood's 2nd and 3rd units. You'd have thought they'd won the superbowl. Honaker is much improved this year and the Tiger/Tiger game this year should be a pretty good game. Austin Dotson sat out this game and I was told is out till week 2 after the ankle sprain against Grundy last year. John Dotson got hurt on Clintwood's first offensive series and didn't come back. I was told he was fine and could have came back but they chose to sit him.

Overall I think Honaker is better than I thought they would be and Cwood has some holes that they need attention

For Cwood...

THE GOOD - (1) The passing game looked better than i have seen it in a VERY long time. (2) the power running game looked good even without Auston or John Dottoson (Powers and Meade are a good 1, 2 punch at RB (3) Great pass coverage (till the halfback bomb)

The Bad -(1) Injures are piling up and while everyone should be back before Cwood hits the meat of there schedule we are getting thin at a few positions. (2) The D-Line is quick but undersized and had a tough time stopping Honaker in there power set. (3) Kickoff team needs some work (two kicks out of bounds, one KO return to the 1 yard line....however the kicker also put 2 in the endzone for touch backs so it was not all bad


Overall it was a good scrimmage Cwood has got to work on some things but (assuming no one else goes down) should be OK going into the season

Well the last TD was on the Cwood Starters (60 yard half back pass LOL)

I know that Tre and Mancel were in there. There were a bunch of #'s I didn't know like 19. It looked more like a mishmash of 1's and 2's. The whole LB corp was out with injuries (Dotson, Dotson, Vanover). We have no depth and if anybody get's hurt (outside of a wr) we're screwed.

The interior OL didn't exactly look too hot either, especially once John Dotson went down. Clintwood has to find capable Guards to fill the gaps up the middle that Honaker exploited almost all night. The tackle play was solid, though...no problems that I saw at either of the bookends.

I like having the Pound transfer (#38) at DT b/c he's small/quick and can blow up plays, but sometimes he shoots that A-gap and ends up running 10 yards past the ballcarrier when he could break down, make a hit, and stop the play dead. He's not the only one at fault for that either though--seemed like the whole front 7/8 was guilty of it at least once or twice apiece. Honaker ran the ball up the middle like they had Mike Alstott at FB.

Really, my issue with just about the whole team is breaking down and tackling. Too much running and diving at legs/trying to arm tackle for my tastes. That, and injuries like those to the aforementioned A. Dotson/J. Dotson/Vanover plus a kid that played a good game up until he got hurt, Martin Lyle, are starting to pile up early and often for this team. If that doesn't stop quick, Clintwood could be in trouble.

After watching the film the O-Line looked preatty good (much better than I thought during the game) D-Line is undersized and with the 2 starting Middle LBs out of the game they were soft up the middle but not horrable untill Honaker went with there short yardage package....Injureys are the biggist consern for CWood at this point as they are thin in several spots now.
